In addition, Siegel+Gale, the world's leading strategic branding agency conducted a survey of more than 2,900 consumers in nine countries to find out what they liked about food and beverage packaging. As a result, glass packaging stand out as the most popular packaging among consumers, with 93.5 percent of respondents preferring bottled wine and 66 percent preferring bottled non-alcoholic beverages.
The reason why consumers think glass material is better than other packaging materials is that it has five characteristics inculding high purity, strong security, good quality, more functional and recyclable .
Although consumers prefer glass containers, the packaging may not make it onto store shelves in large numbers. A survey on food packaging showed that 91 per cent of consumers preferred glass packaging, but in the food industry glass only accounts for about 10 percent of the market.
According to the investigation, the application scale of glass packaging in the market is not up to the expectation of customers, this is mainly because of two reasons, one is that consumers' preferred brands do not use glass packaging; The second is that the stores most frequented by consumers do not use glass containers for packaging.
In addition, other survey data also reflect consumers' preference for certain types of food packaging.The data showed that 84 percent of respondents preferred beer in glass containers, particularly in European countries.Consumer demand for canned food in glass packaging is also strong.
Ninety-one percent of consumers surveyed preferred glass packaging, particularly in Latin America (95 percent). In addition, glass is the preferred form of packaging for drinking wine, favored by 98 percent of consumers.
